# Forgot & Reset Password

Recover access to your Elvo Exchange account securely using your verified email address and a single-use verification code.

## Forgot & Reset Password

Recover access to your Elvo Exchange account securely using your verified email address and a single-use verification code.

### Forgot Your Password?

If you cannot remember your Elvo account password, start the recovery process from:

[**Forgot Password →**](https://elvo.exchange/forgot-password)

You will need access to the verified email address associated with your Elvo Exchange account.

***

### Request a Password Reset

To begin account recovery:

1. Open the [**Forgot Password Page →**](https://elvo.exchange/forgot-password)
2. Enter the email address registered to your Elvo account.
3. Select **Send verification code**.
4. Check your email for the 6-digit password recovery code.
5. Continue to the password reset screen.

For account privacy, Elvo does not use the recovery response to confirm whether a particular email address is registered.

> Only use password recovery through the official Elvo website.

***

### If You Are Already Signed In

You can also start password recovery while signed in.

When you begin recovery from an authenticated Elvo account, your verified account email is used automatically.

Your existing session remains active while you complete the verification process.

If the password reset is successfully completed, **all active Elvo sessions will be revoked**.

***

### Reset Your Password

After requesting a reset code, Elvo will take you to the password reset page.

Enter:

* The **6-digit email verification code**
* Your new password
* Your new password again for confirmation

Your new password must contain at least **10 characters**.

Select **Reset password** to complete the process.

***

### Password Reset Security

The password recovery process is protected by:

* Your registered email address
* A single-use 6-digit verification code
* An expiring password reset session
* Password confirmation
* Automatic revocation of existing account sessions after a successful reset

A recovery code cannot be used indefinitely.

If your recovery session expires or is no longer available in your browser, request a new verification code from:

[**Request a New Reset Code →**](https://elvo.exchange/forgot-password)

***

### After Your Password Is Reset

Once the password change is completed:

1. Your previous password will no longer work.
2. Existing Elvo account sessions will be revoked.
3. You will need to sign in again.
4. Use your new password together with any Login Security methods configured on your account.

Return to:

[**Sign In to Elvo →**](https://elvo.exchange/login)

***

### Didn't Receive the Verification Code?

If the recovery email does not arrive:

* Check your spam or junk folder
* Make sure you entered the correct registered email address
* Allow a short time for email delivery
* Request a new code if the previous one is no longer usable

Always use the **most recent valid verification code** when completing recovery.

***

### Choose a Secure New Password

When creating your new password:

* Use at least 10 characters
* Use a password that is unique to Elvo Exchange
* Avoid passwords already used on other websites or services
* Do not share your password with anyone

A password manager can help you create and securely store a unique password.

***

### If You Did Not Request a Password Reset

If you receive an Elvo password recovery email that you did not request:

* Do not share the verification code
* Do not provide the code to anyone contacting you
* Review your account security if you are currently signed in
* Review your active sessions for unfamiliar devices

[**Review Active Sessions →**](https://elvo.exchange/account/sessions)

If you notice suspicious activity, terminate unrecognized sessions and review your Security Settings immediately.

***

### Protect Your Recovery Information

Elvo Exchange team members will never ask you to provide:

* Your account password
* Password reset verification codes
* Authenticator codes
* Private keys
* Seed or recovery phrases

> Only enter password recovery information directly on [**elvo.exchange**](https://elvo.exchange/).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://elvo-exchange.gitbook.io/elvo-exchange-docs/account/forgot-and-reset-password.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
