# Scam Prevention

Learn how to recognize phishing, fake support accounts, fraudulent links, malicious wallet requests, and other attempts to impersonate Elvo Exchange.

### Protect Yourself From Impersonation

Scammers may attempt to imitate Elvo Exchange, members of the Elvo team, community administrators, or customer support.

They may contact you through:

* Telegram
* X
* Email
* Direct messages
* Fake websites
* Fake wallet prompts
* Fake token or investment offers

Always verify that you are interacting with an official Elvo channel before taking action.

***

### Elvo Will Never Ask for Your Private Keys

Never share your:

* Wallet private key
* Seed phrase
* Recovery phrase
* Account password
* Email OTP
* Authenticator code
* Authenticator setup key

Anyone requesting these credentials should be treated as suspicious.

> Your seed phrase and private key provide control over your wallet. Elvo support does not need them to assist you.

***

### Never Share Verification Codes

Elvo uses security codes for account verification.

These can include:

#### Email OTP

A single-use 6-digit code delivered to your verified email.

#### Authenticator Code

A rotating 6-digit code generated by your authenticator app.

These codes are intended only for actions you initiate directly on Elvo Exchange.

Never send them to another person through chat, email, or social media.

***

### Be Careful With Fake Support

A common scam involves someone contacting a user first and claiming to be:

* Elvo Support
* Customer Care
* An administrator
* A developer
* A security specialist
* An account recovery agent

They may claim that:

* Your account is at risk
* Your withdrawal is blocked
* Your wallet must be verified
* Your assets need to be migrated
* Your account requires emergency recovery

Then they ask for credentials, wallet access, or a transaction.

Do not provide sensitive information.

Verify the person through Elvo's official channels before continuing.

***

### Verify the Website

The official Elvo Exchange website is:

[**https://elvo.exchange/**](https://elvo.exchange/)

Before signing in, connecting a wallet, or entering account information, check the domain carefully.

Be cautious of:

* Misspelled domains
* Additional words before or after the Elvo name
* Look-alike characters
* Links received through unsolicited direct messages
* Search advertisements pretending to be official pages

A website that looks identical to Elvo Exchange can still be fraudulent.

***

### Verify Official Social Channels

Official Elvo channels include:

**Telegram**\
<https://t.me/elvoexchange>

**X**\
<https://x.com/elvoexchange>

Important announcements should be verified through official Elvo sources before you act on them.

Do not trust a screenshot of an announcement when you can verify the original post directly.

***

### Check Before Connecting Your Wallet

A malicious website can imitate a legitimate wallet connection screen.

Before connecting:

1. Confirm that you are on the official Elvo domain.
2. Read the wallet request.
3. Check which account and network are selected.
4. Make sure the request matches the action you intended to perform.

Simply seeing an Elvo logo is not proof that a website is legitimate.

***

### Understand Wallet Signatures

Elvo may request wallet signatures for supported security actions such as:

* Wallet sign-in
* Linking a wallet
* Web3 Login Security
* Withdrawal confirmation

A security signature is intended to verify control of your wallet.

It should not be confused with sending assets.

Before signing, confirm that you intentionally started the action on Elvo Exchange.

> Never sign an unexplained wallet request sent to you through a direct message.

***

### Connected Wallet vs. Linked Wallet

A wallet connected to your browser is not automatically an authorized Elvo wallet.

A wallet becomes associated with your Elvo account only after it has been properly linked and verified through Elvo's account security process.

If someone tells you to connect an unknown wallet or visit another website to "activate" your Elvo account, verify the request first.

***

### Verify Withdrawal Addresses Carefully

Blockchain withdrawals may not be reversible after they are successfully processed.

Before confirming a withdrawal, verify:

* Asset
* Network
* Destination address
* Amount
* Withdrawal fee
* Amount to be sent

Do not change a destination address because someone in a chat tells you that your "old address is invalid."

***

### Address-Replacement Scams

Malware or malicious browser extensions can sometimes attempt to replace a copied wallet address.

Before submitting a withdrawal:

1. Compare the beginning of the address.
2. Compare the end of the address.
3. Verify the complete address when transferring a significant amount.
4. Confirm the recipient independently.

Do not rely only on the address stored in your clipboard.

***

### Use the Address Book Carefully

Saved withdrawal addresses can reduce repeated manual entry, but you should still confirm the destination before withdrawing.

A recently added destination may also be subject to Elvo security controls before it becomes available for withdrawal.

Never save an address supplied by someone claiming to be support unless you independently know that it belongs to your intended recipient.

***

### Fake Token Scams

Scammers can create tokens using the same or similar:

* Name
* Symbol
* Logo
* Branding

A token displaying **ELVO** does not automatically mean it is the official native $ELVO token.

Always verify official token information through Elvo's official announcements and channels before purchasing or interacting with a token.

Do not rely only on the token symbol.

***

### Fake Launch and Airdrop Scams

Be cautious of messages claiming:

* "Claim free $ELVO"
* "Emergency token migration"
* "Connect wallet to receive allocation"
* "Exclusive presale"
* "Double your tokens"
* "Send tokens to verify your wallet"
* "Deposit first to unlock rewards"

Do not connect your wallet or transfer assets based solely on an unsolicited message.

Verify the announcement through official Elvo channels first.

***

### Elvo Earn Scams

Elvo Earn is currently a **Coming Soon** product.

No live staking contract or reward distribution is currently active through the Earn preview.

Be suspicious of anyone claiming that you must immediately:

* Stake $ELVO through another website
* Transfer $ELVO to an administrator
* Send tokens to receive stock rewards
* Pay to activate an Earn position

The official Elvo Earn interface will clearly indicate when real staking functionality becomes available.

***

### Perpetual Scams

Elvo Perpetual is currently in **preview mode**.

Real Perpetual order execution is not yet active.

Be cautious of anyone claiming that they can:

* Open an Elvo Perpetual position on your behalf
* Collect margin for Elvo Perpetual
* Deposit funds into a special Perpetual account
* Guarantee leveraged profits through Elvo

Official product activation will be announced through Elvo's official channels.

***

### Guaranteed Profit Claims

No legitimate trading platform can guarantee that every trade will generate a profit.

Be cautious of anyone claiming to offer:

* Guaranteed returns
* Guaranteed trading profits
* Risk-free leveraged trading
* Guaranteed staking income
* Guaranteed token appreciation

Market prices can move in either direction.

***

### Fake Recovery Services

After a user experiences fraud, scammers sometimes impersonate:

* Recovery companies
* Blockchain investigators
* Exchange employees
* Security teams

They may claim they can recover assets if you first provide:

* A fee
* Your seed phrase
* Your private key
* Wallet access
* Account credentials

Do not give anyone control of your wallet or Elvo account.

***

### Suspicious Login Activity

If you believe someone may have accessed your account:

1. Change your Elvo password.
2. Review Login Security.
3. Review linked wallets.
4. Review Active Sessions.
5. Terminate sessions you do not recognize.
6. Use **Terminate All Sessions** if necessary.
7. Confirm that your verified email is still under your control.

[**Account Protection →**](https://elvo.exchange/account/security)

[**Active Sessions →**](https://elvo.exchange/account/sessions)

***

### Suspicious Wallet Activity

If you receive an unexpected wallet request:

* Do not sign immediately
* Close the request
* Verify the website
* Check whether you initiated the action
* Review the message being signed
* Confirm the connected wallet

If you did not intentionally start the action, do not approve it.

***

### Suspicious Email

A fraudulent email may attempt to create urgency with messages such as:

**Your account will be closed.**

**Your withdrawal has been frozen.**

**Verify immediately to prevent asset loss.**

Instead of clicking the email link, manually open:

[**https://elvo.exchange/**](https://elvo.exchange/)

and check your account directly.

***

### Suspicious Telegram Messages

Telegram usernames, profile photos, and display names can be copied easily.

Never assume someone is official only because their profile uses:

* Elvo branding
* An Elvo team member's name
* An administrator title
* The same profile image as an official account

Verify usernames character by character.

***

### Before Taking Action

Ask yourself:

**Did I initiate this action?**

**Am I on the official Elvo website?**

**Is this the correct wallet?**

**Does the request match what I am trying to do?**

**Is anyone asking for information they should never need?**

If something does not match, do not proceed.

***

### Official Elvo Channels

Always verify important information through official sources:

**Website**\
<https://elvo.exchange/>

**Telegram**\
<https://t.me/elvoexchange>

**X**\
<https://x.com/elvoexchange>

For verified team and support information, refer to the **Official Links & Team** page in the Elvo documentation.

***

### Security Rule to Remember

The most important rule is simple:

> **Never give anyone your password, OTP, Authenticator code, private key, seed phrase, or recovery phrase.**

Verify the website, verify the request, and only approve actions that you personally initiated through the official Elvo Exchange platform.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://elvo-exchange.gitbook.io/elvo-exchange-docs/security/scam-prevention.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
