# How to Trade

Learn how to place Spot orders on Elvo Exchange, review execution details, and manage your trading activity.

### Start Trading

Elvo Spot trading is available from:

[**Open Markets →**](https://elvo.exchange/markets)

Select a supported market to open its trading terminal.

Elvo currently supports Spot markets quoted against **tUSDG**.

***

### Step 1 — Choose a Market

From the Markets page, select the asset you want to trade.

Supported Spot markets currently include:

* NVDA / tUSDG
* TSLA / tUSDG
* AAPL / tUSDG
* MSFT / tUSDG
* META / tUSDG
* GOOGL / tUSDG
* AMZN / tUSDG
* COIN / tUSDG
* SPY / tUSDG
* QQQ / tUSDG

Selecting a market opens the Elvo Spot terminal for that pair.

***

### Step 2 — Review the Trading Interface

The Spot terminal provides information such as:

* Market price information
* Chart
* Internal Elvo order book
* Recent Elvo trades
* Buy and Sell controls
* Available balance
* Open Orders
* Order History
* Trade History
* TP / SL activity

The market data shown on the terminal helps you evaluate the market before placing an order.

***

### Reference Market Data

Elvo may use external market data as a pricing and chart reference.

This reference data is separate from actual Elvo execution.

Your Spot order is **not routed to an external exchange**.

Actual execution occurs through the Elvo internal trading system and available Elvo order book liquidity.

> Reference prices provide market context. They should not be interpreted as guaranteed execution prices.

***

### Step 3 — Choose Buy or Sell

Select:

**Buy**\
Use your available tUSDG balance to purchase the selected asset.

**Sell**\
Sell the selected asset from your available balance.

Your available balance is shown directly in the order form when you are signed in.

***

### Step 4 — Choose an Order Type

Elvo currently supports several Spot order types.

#### Market Order

A Market order attempts to execute immediately against available Elvo liquidity.

Use a Market order when execution speed is more important than choosing an exact limit price.

Market orders do not remain open on the order book.

Because available liquidity can exist across multiple price levels, the final average execution price may differ from the current displayed reference price.

#### Limit Order

A Limit order allows you to specify the price at which you are willing to buy or sell.

If your Limit order cannot immediately execute at the requested price, it may remain on the Elvo order book until:

* It is filled
* You cancel it
* Its applicable order condition ends

#### TP / SL

Elvo also supports conditional trading through:

* Take Profit
* Stop Loss
* OCO

These orders remain conditional until their trigger requirements are met.

***

### Step 5 — Enter Your Order Amount

For supported order types, enter the quantity or order value requested by the trading form.

Elvo validates the order against the active market rules.

These rules may include:

* Minimum quantity
* Maximum quantity
* Quantity step
* Minimum order value
* Maximum order value
* Price tick size

If your order does not meet the market rules, Elvo will ask you to adjust the order before submission.

***

### Market Buy Orders

When placing a **Market Buy**, the trading form allows you to specify the value you want to spend.

Elvo calculates the corresponding order quantity using the available market information and applicable trading rules.

The final amount acquired depends on actual execution against available Elvo liquidity.

***

### Market Sell Orders

For a **Market Sell**, enter the quantity of the asset you want to sell.

The order attempts to execute immediately against available buy-side liquidity.

***

### Step 6 — Review the Estimated Trading Fee

Before submitting an order, Elvo may show an estimated trading fee.

Current Spot fee rates are:

**Maker Fee:** 0.05%\
**Taker Fee:** 0.10%

The actual fee depends on your liquidity role when the trade executes.

***

### Maker and Taker

#### Maker

A maker order adds executable liquidity to the Elvo order book.

For example, a Limit order that remains on the book before another order trades against it may execute as a maker.

#### Taker

A taker order consumes existing liquidity.

Market orders generally execute as taker orders.

A Limit order can also become a taker if it immediately crosses existing liquidity.

***

### Step 7 — Submit the Order

Review:

* Market
* Buy or Sell
* Order type
* Quantity
* Price, if applicable
* Estimated value
* Estimated fee

Then submit the order.

A valid authenticated Elvo session is required to trade.

You do not need to approve a blockchain transaction or wallet signature for every Spot trade.

***

### Step 8 — Monitor Your Order

Your trading activity appears directly below the Spot terminal.

Available views include:

#### Open Orders

Shows active orders that have not yet reached a final state.

You can cancel eligible open orders from this view.

#### Order History

Shows previous orders and their final status.

#### Trade History

Shows completed fills, including information such as:

* Market
* Side
* Liquidity role
* Execution price
* Executed quantity
* Trading fee
* Net settlement
* Execution time

#### TP / SL

Shows your conditional Take Profit and Stop Loss activity.

***

### Partial Fills

An order does not always need to execute all at once.

If sufficient liquidity is not available at a single price level, an eligible order may execute across available order book levels.

A Limit order may also remain partially filled while the remaining quantity stays active.

The trading interface displays:

**Filled Quantity / Total Quantity**

so you can monitor order progress.

***

### Cancel an Open Order

To cancel an eligible order:

1. Open the **Open Orders** tab.
2. Find the order you want to cancel.
3. Select **Cancel**.
4. Wait for the updated order status.

Any unused amount reserved for the canceled order is released back to the appropriate available balance after cancellation is processed.

***

### View All Orders

You can also manage your trading history from:

[**Orders →**](https://elvo.exchange/orders)

Filled orders can have individual completed order records containing information such as:

* Order ID
* Market
* Buy or Sell
* Order type
* Filled quantity
* Original quantity
* Average execution price
* Limit price, when applicable
* Creation time
* Completion time

***

### Spot Trades Are Internal Elvo Executions

Elvo Spot trades are matched internally.

The execution flow is:

**Elvo Order → Elvo Order Book → Elvo Matching Engine → Account Settlement**

Spot trades do not create an individual blockchain transaction for each buy or sell.

Because of this, a completed Spot order does **not** have a blockchain transaction hash.

Blockchain activity is used separately for funding operations such as deposits and withdrawals.

### Before You Trade

Always check:

| Check                 | What to Review                                 |
| --------------------- | ---------------------------------------------- |
| **Market**            | Correct Spot pair                              |

| **Order Type** | Market, Limit, or TP / SL |
| **Quantity**          | Correct amount                                 |
| **Price** | Correct Limit or trigger price when applicable |
| **Available Balance** | Sufficient funds                               |
| **Fee** | Maker or taker fee estimate |
| **Order Status** | Confirm the result after submission |

### Perpetual Markets

Elvo also provides a Perpetual market interface for market-reference purposes.

At this time, **Perpetual execution is not enabled**.

The Perpetual interface may show market information such as price, mark price, funding reference data, open interest, depth, recent trades, and leverage metadata, but it does not currently create live Elvo perpetual positions.

For executable trading, use the Elvo **Spot** markets.

# Agent Instructions
This documentation is published with GitBook. GitBook is the documentation platform designed so that both humans and AI agents can read, navigate, and reason over technical content effectively. Learn more at gitbook.com.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://elvo-exchange.gitbook.io/elvo-exchange-docs/trading/how-to-trade.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
